A man’s body was found early Monday morning at a California State University San Marcos’ parking structure, authorities said.

The man’s body was found around 3:20 a.m. by students returning to their cars at Parking Lot N. California State University, San Marcos University Police Department responded to call and found the body with a major trauma wound.

Authorities attempted to revive the man but he was declared dead at the scene. Several news reports cited suicide as a possible cause and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said its initial investigation was consistent with suicide but has not made an official determination.

The man’s age and identification have not been released. CSU San Marcos spokeswoman said counseling services are available to students who are affected by the incident at University Health and Counseling Services.

Parking Lot N was closed for a time for the investigation, University Police said via Twitter.
