A Chula Vista woman was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown Friday to be warden at the Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy.

Kimberly Seibel, 52, has been acting warden at the facility since last year. She previously was in charge of Chuckawalla Valley State Prison from 2015 to 2016.

The Democrat served in numerous positions over 16 years served in several positions at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego County, including chief deputy warden, associate warden, captain, lieutenant and sergeant, according to the governor’s office.

The Deuel Vocational Institution is a reception center for new inmates coming from jails in Northern California, and houses a small number of low- security inmates.

Seibel will earn $149,808 annually in the position, which doesn’t require Senate confirmation.
