An unprovoked stabbing at a San Ysidro apartment complex left a man wounded Monday, according to San Diego police.

The assault occurred in the 2000 block of Alaquinas Drive shortly before 12:30 p.m.

A friend drove the 50-year-old victim to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Officer Dino Delimitros said.

The suspected assailant, a man in his 40s, was arrested at a nearby trolley station a short time later. His name was not immediately available.

It was unclear what prompted the stabbing.
