The San Diego Police Department is planning a crackdown Wednesday on drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic laws.
The department will be targeting locations where pedestrians have been hit over the past three years and checking for speeding, illegal turns, failure to stop or yield, as well as jaywalking.
“Officers will be looking for traffic offenses made by drivers and pedestrians alike that can lead to life-changing injuries,” said Police Officer Mark McCullough.
San Diego police officers have investigated over 250 fatal and injury collisions involving pedestrians during the past three years.
Funding for the special program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
