Just in time for July 4, identity-management site MyLife on Monday named San Diego America’s most patriotic city.

San Diego beat out five cities in Texas and one in California among the top ten to secure first place.

“With its reputation of being a large military city, and the very large ships that reside in the bay, it came as little surprise that San Diego was able to achieve the top spot on our list,” MyLife said.

“They certainly worked for it, however. They ranked fifth in the total spending on veterans category, and showed to be passionate about celebrating the day as well, as they ranked fifth in popularity of fireworks.”

Los Anglese-based MyLife analyzed four sets of data to rank American cities:

  • Percent of population in the armed forces
  • Total spending on veterans
  • Popularity of fireworks
  • Community and social service workers

The cities that ranked high in total spending on veterans were important in determining which cities made the top 10 rankings. Here’s the complete top-ten list:

  1. San Diego
  2. San Antonio
  3. Austin
  4. Ft. Worth
  5. Oklahoma City
  6. Las Vegas
  7. Long Beach
  8. El Paso
  9. Colorado Springs
  10. Houston

A complete ranking is online.
