Ground and helicopter crews quickly extinguished that small brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in a Tierrasanta canyon.

The fire near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Santo Road charred less than a quarter acre and caused no injuries or structural damage, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Some 40 firefighters were on the scene, and westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard was temporarily closed to traffic.
