Whistles were wetted and fireworks exploded Saturday night for the benefit of Hotel del Coronado guests and visitors at the Del Beach Bash.
It was complimentary for overnight hotel guests but $25 a pop for day visitors. Still, anyone could walk the cloud-covered beach to see the brief show, which began a little before 9 p.m.
Hundreds swayed to a live band playing “American Pie” and other rock standards, and guests enjoyed fire pits with s’mores and a long bar.
Signs along Coronado’s main drag were reminders that the Crown City’s annual Fourth of July Parade was set Tuesday. It begins at 10 a.m. along Orange Avenue, from First Street to Churchill Place. The city’s own Fireworks Show over Glorietta Bay starts at 9 p.m.
Also set are a 12K Run and 5K Run-Walk; a rough-water swim; a community concert; and a parachute demonstration in Glorietta Bay.
