A belated winter storm unfolded across the San Diego region on Saturday, bringing sprinkles of rain, cool breezes and gray skies.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory. Drivers should be aware that periods of snow in the mountain may pose hazards.
Forecasters warn there will be slippery roads and limited visibility. Dense fog may reduce visibilities past a quarter-mile at times.
Moderate to heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms are forecast to hit San Diego Saturday through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers will mostly taper off Sunday night, but some will continue with additional rain and thunderstorms over the mountains and inland valleys Monday. Forecasters say this will continue to linger slightly on Tuesday.
The higher mountains received a flash back of winter, with snow levels rising several inches. Due to the showery nature of the precipitation, the snow totals vary greatly. Some roads may be snow covered and slippery on Sunday morning, in the mountains.
