Clear skies, light winds and dry air will spread patches of frost and cool temperatures across San Diego County over Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to drop rapidly overnight, between 33 to 26 degrees Fahrenheit with isolated spots at 27 to 32 degrees.
It will be cold enough in San Diego’s wind-sheltered valleys near the coast and in the San Diego County deserts for patchy frost. Forecasters say the mountains will be highly impacted with frost as well.

Other impacted locations include the cities of El Cajon, San Marcos, La Mesa, Santee and Poway.
The National Weather Service issued a frost advisory beginning at midnight and lasting until 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. That means widespread frost is expected. Forecasters advised the public to cover sensitive outdoor plants and make sure pets left outdoors have a warm place to spend the night.
