A fire of unknown origin damaged a North Park home Tuesday, leaving one resident in need of interim shelter pending repairs.

The non-injury blaze in the 3500 block of Herman Avenue erupted shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It took crews about 35 minutes to extinguish the flames, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced resident arrange for temporary lodging.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Munoz said.
