With many San Diego Chargers’ fans now declaring themselves ‘ex-fans’ after the team decided to move to Los Angeles for the 2017 season, tattoo parlors were quick to offer special deals on bolt-themed tattoo removal or cover-ups that may disguise the bolt symbol.
One tattoo parlor said on social media that they’d received ‘a high volume of phone calls’ asking to remove or disguise bolts tattoos from large numbers of angry, disgruntled football fans, still reeling from the imminent departure of a team once loyal to San Diego.
That included Evolve Tattoo Removal located on the 2500 block of State Street and Skinny Beach located on the 3700 block of Moraga Avenue, who offered to take off any Chargers tattoo for just $100.
The Laser Clinique, located on the 9200 block of Scranton Road, offered special discounts for all San Diego Chargers-related tattoos, with a free consultation from their Tattoo Removal Experts.
“Due to the high-volume of calls regarding Chargers Tattoo Cover-Ups we at Eden Tattoo Gallery feel your pain and would like to give back to our natives and help out in this painful endeavor,” announced The Eden Tattoo Gallery, in a Facebook post. The tattoo gallery, located on the 3000 block of Madison Avenue, has offered a 50 percent discount on all Charger, Bolt and Shield cover-up tattoos.
The Dermatology & Laser Center in San Diego also offered to book consultations for ex-fans looking to remove their San Diego Charger tattoos. Some San Diegans used social media to express the sudden worthlessness of their formerly beloved Chargers’ symbols.
Other former fans boldly announced their need to get a tattoo cover up without further delay.
