The San Diego-based parent company of ProFlowers.com and other e-commerce brands donated $25,000 to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation, a week after firefighters battled almost a dozen major blazes throughout the region.

Officials with Provide Commerce said many of its hundreds of San Diego employees were affected by the fires. They said the donation was a token of gratitude.

“This gift is our way of sincerely thanking the amazing team of first responders who tirelessly fought the terrifying stream of wildfires in San Diego last week,” Provide Commerce CEO Chris Shimojima said. “Many of our Provide Commerce employees live in the paths of the firestorms and had to evacuate. But every one of them was safe, thanks to the incredible job the firefighters did and are still doing.”

The donation was presented to the foundation, and San Diego fire Chief Javier Mainar at the company’s headquarters on Eastgate Mall in University City.

Provide Commerce brands also include Personal Creations, Red Envelope and Shari’s Berries.

“This last week has been a true testament to the strength and resilience of not only our firefighters, but also our San Diego community,” San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation Executive Director Wendy Robinson said. “This donation shows just how much companies like Provide Commerce truly care about their employees and the San Diego community in which they operate.”

The eight-year-old foundation provides funding for fire equipment, technology and training for firefighters.
