The body of a woman was found Friday in a car parked near the Ocean Beach Pier.
The death in a public parking lot at the foot of Newport Avenue was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The unidentified woman appeared to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.
San Diego police were investigating the circumstances of the fatality.
