San Diego voter turnout was expected to be between 55-60 percent of the electorate for the presidential primary, according to Registrar of Voters Michael Vu.

It was anticipated that 260,000 registered voters would cast ballots at one of the 1500 polls in San Diego County.

In addition, of the 970,000 absentee ballots sent out, 30 percent had been returned as of 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
