“Who gets a college degree to bake cookies?” One San Diegan who was posed that question by her mother has a very tasty answer, which is complex and rich and includes flavors such as ube, taro and matcha. Kathy Phan’s answer, CAKED, opened its doors in Mira Mesa a couple of years ago. And it was such a good answer that her once-skeptical mother still occasionally helps her package her pastries.
