The grand opening of Ismene Boutique on Shelter Island took place on May 2. The boutique is located by the waterfront in the Brigantine Building. This amazing location serves as the gateway to San Diego Harbor and a huge attraction for tourists.
Karla Espinoza, the owner of this quaint boutique, designed the interior herself. When you walk in, you feel as if you have stepped into a country lifestyle retreat. The walls are covered with super feminine wallpaper, and the vibe makes you want to shop until you drop with so much fun merchandise.
Originally, Espinoza studied communication sciences, but 18 years ago she began selling accessories online and took a different path into the world of fashion. Over the years, she started studying fashion design and took various courses to expand her knowledge. Now she is living her dream and refuses to let anything hold her back.
Espinoza has designed boots that she carries in the store. One pair features stars and hearts, another pair is black with gold stars, and another one showcases horseshoes.
She has also designed jackets, including one in gold leather, while another features cool patches with rhinestones and sequins – a fun way to add bling to your wardrobe. Additionally, customers will find clothing and handbags throughout the boutique.
Espinoza also carries silk scarves she designed in many gorgeous colors. She has created cardholders with a variety of unique designs as well. The walls are lined with felt hats. When a customer comes in, they can choose a color or style of hat such as a round crown, fedora or western style. They can customize the hat with trims and embellishments, and Espinoza will sew them on. This creates a wonderful experience for her customers that is both enjoyable and entertaining.
