A 21-year-old woman who struck a 5-year-old girl near Liberty Station in September 2025 has pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence of alcohol and causing great bodily injury.

The driver, Savannah Monique Taylor, 21, faces a nine-year prison term, said District Attorney spokesperson Tanya Sierra on Thursday, May 7.

The 5-year-old victim, known as Olive T., had emergency brain surgery at Rady Children’s Hospital, and her medical condition is currently unknown but will be revealed at Taylor’s June 4 sentencing.

A detective testified at the preliminary hearing that she had “a long list of injuries,” including a liver laceration.

According to testimony, Taylor was driving a BMW and got onto a pedestrian path near the USS Recruit in Point Loma. Taylor struck a steel sidewalk bench and then careened into Olive, who was riding her scooter on the sidewalk. Police found a near-empty bottle of Hennessy inside the car.

In addition to the felony charges, Taylor also faces domestic violence charges in Chula Vista Superior Court, which are pending. A prosecutor said that the charge also involves alcohol. Taylor remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on $175,000 bail.
