Beat the heat by the beach

On my computer, where I write most of these newsletters, I have a sticker from OB Hardware that reads “I Never Leave OB.” You’ve probably seen it on cars or golf carts around town. 

Unfortunately, I really left OB this week and am writing from snowy Chicago. The heat in Ocean Beach and San Diego County has been brutal. 

The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat warnings for San Diego until 8 p.m. on Friday. OB is no exception to this warning as coastal areas could see temperatures rise into the 90s this week. 

I would still expect it to be crowded around OB this weekend though. These high temperatures usually bring in lots of people trying to beat the heat at the beach. Despite it still being very hot in OB, it’s still cooler than most inland San Diego communities, making our town much more desirable. 

When it gets hot like this I usually just try to jump in the ocean to cool off or just lay low around my house to avoid the crowds. However, it’s hard not to want to get outside in this weather. 

That being said, take caution, hydrate and get to a cooler area if you can. If you can go to a place with air conditioning, that’s probably the best bet to avoid the heat. Stay safe, OB!
