Hello, La Mesa!
Happy March! It’s both San Diego Theatre Month and San Diego Art Gallery Month. Let’s not forget national observances: Women’s History Month, Disability Awareness Month and National Reading Month.
We haven’t quite hit spring cleaning yet, but I’ve been conducting some home redecorating — largely thanks to the huge closing sale at Macy’s in Grossmont Center. If you need an area rug, I highly recommend it.
I’ve also been experimenting with creating art to cover my apartment’s Landlord Gray walls. It looks like La Mesa Wine Works is ready to assist with a botanical wall craft workshop coming up. Participants will use air plants, drift wood, preserved mosses and wooden flowers to transform a wood board into living art. The $60 class takes place Sunday, March 22, at 1 p.m.
Here are three other March events to check out:
Kids’ Soccer Day ⚽ Soccer Shots is hosting a Free Fun Day at La Mesita Park this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for kids ages 2 to 10 years to see if they like soccer. Check the age bracket schedule here.
Nature Day 🦋 Head to Mt. Helix Park on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a free fair celebrating nature. Don’t miss the butterfly release at 1 p.m.
Taiko Drumming concert 🥁 Buddhist Temple of San Diego Taiko will perform traditional Japanese drumming at the library on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m.
