Uptown News weekly update

Hello, Uptown!

The beginning of February found me overwhelmed by headlines — struggling profusely with news anxiety and in need of a distraction to provide some sort of relief amid the chaos. In times like these, community truly is everything. So, I want to share two of Uptown’s social groups where you can make friends out of strangers and briefly escape the noise through genuine connection.

University Heights Women’s Walk

This women-led group gathers multiple times a week in one of Uptown’s most cozy and vibrant neighborhoods, University Heights. The February calendar includes a series of activities such as trivia nights, farmers markets, sunset walks and cookbook swaps. Joining is free and open to the public. A fun way to explore the neighborhood and get your steps in, all while making new friendships? Sign me up!

Sketch Party San Diego

This group provides the opportunity to sit down and create with markers, pens and crayons while socializing in South Park’s very own Whistle Stop Bar. Sip a drink and connect with strangers while doodling for your own enjoyment. The February calendar also includes events at the Natural History Museum, making for an unforgettable evening of arts and sciences.

Don’t miss out on these opportunities to meet new people, discover a hobby and build yourself back up to get through those February blues.
