Donors can still score a limited-edition Padres winter blood drive t-shirt by giving blood at any San Diego Blood Bank donation center or mobile site through Saturday, following this week’s successful drive at Petco Park’s Gallagher Square.
More than 500 pints of blood were collected during Tuesday’s event, part of an ongoing effort that has helped the Padres and the San Diego Blood Bank collect more than 4,200 units since 2017.
The drive comes after the American Red Cross announced a nationwide blood shortage earlier this month, especially serious for platelets, types O, A-negative and B-negative blood.
Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
Appointments can be scheduled at SanDiegoBloodBank.org or by calling 619-400-8251.
