A pickup truck traveling on Highway 78 in an unincorporated area near Escondido Thursday slammed into a home and the driver fled the scene.

The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway at 17th Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol‘s online Traffic Incident Information Page.

Highway 78, also known as San Pasqual Valley Road, was temporarily shut down as police searched for the suspect, according to the CHP.

Beer cans were found inside the truck, NBC7 reported.
