Police arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a woman found inside a hotel room in City Heights last month, authorities said Friday.
Around 9:55 p.m. on Oct. 20, officers discovered the unresponsive body of San Diego resident Amy Carreon, 22, inside a room at the La Cresta Hotel, at 4980 El Cajon Blvd., according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police officials said Carreon suffered trauma to her upper body and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Carreon’s death was determined to be a homicide.
The suspect, Demaurya Wiggers, 21, was located in Los Angeles and arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department. It was unclear how investigators turned their focus to him.
Wiggers was transferred and booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder.
