Hello, Point Loma and Ocean Beach!
Halloween is upon us, I hope you’ve stocked up on enough candy to dole out and still have some to stash away.
Last year when I hit the town on Halloween, I assumed if I went to Newport costumes would abound! Well, I stuck out like a sore thumb in my full face of makeup pretending to be Natalie Portman in the movie “Black Swan.” At least now I have a great picture of me in that over-extravagant eyeshadow and ballet outfit surrounded by plainclothes people.
So this is my public service announcement to the people of the Point: Wear a costume.
You might be saying to yourself, “Well I don’t know what I’d be.” First of all, that’s a bad excuse because OB likes to play around so much, I have a hard time believing that you all don’t own at least one interesting clothing item or accessory. You don’t even need to purchase an entire wardrobe, sometimes all you need is a little eyeliner to drive the look home.
So, I just explained that you have the means but are lacking the inspiration. Pick your favorite movie or a recent TV show you’ve been watching. “Severance:” Wear a suit. “Forest Gump:” Wear a suit. “Men in Black:” Wear a suit. I just gave you three different movies with one set of clothing. I bet you can find a character for that red sweater you rarely wear.
All you need is somewhere to wear it, and luckily, The Harp is hosting a Halloween party starting at 8 p.m. Have fun, folks.
