A 57-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck then rolled over by a vehicle in Pacific Beach on Sunday evening.
The collision was at around 9:15 p.m., when a driver of a northbound Mazda CX-5 broadsided the eastbound bicyclist after riding through a stop sign on Oliver Avenue at the intersection of Ingraham Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The bicyclist was knocked to the ground in front of the vehicle. The driver then exited without placing the Mazda in park and the vehicle rolled over the victim, police said.
The driver failed to take control of the rolling vehicle and it also collided with a curb and a metal gate, they added.
The victim suffered multiple fractured ribs. His name was not immediately available.
Driving under the influence was not a suspected factor in the collision, but Traffic Division officers with the department were investigating.
Officials asked anyone with information to call San Diego police or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
