Two drivers were arrested for drunken driving in a Chula Vista Police Department saturation patrol this weekend.
Of the 56 traffic stops that were made, 40 citations were issued for various infractions, including failure to stop at a red light or stop sign, failing to wear a seatbelt and several other vehicle code violations.
Four vehicles were towed after their drivers were found to be driving on a suspended license, according to Officer Brian Carter. The operation began at 7 p.m. Saturday and ended at 2 a.m. Sunday. It was the second of four drunken saturation patrols planned for March and it was considered a successful operation, Carter said.
Funding for the saturation patrols is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
