Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a man found in Ramona on Sunday afternoon..

Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriffs’ Department’s Ramona substation responded to the 700 block of Eighth Street at about 2:35 p.m. Sunday about an assault with a deadly weapon.

“Upon their arrival, Deputies discovered an adult individual suffering from traumatic injuries,” the department said in a release.  “Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

“Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community,” the release added.

Homicide detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and gathering more evidence, the sheriff’s department said. The motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation, they added.
