About 500 people showed up for the first J Pride Festival.
The alternate pride festival emerged after outcry over San Diego Pride’s headlining performer, Kehlani. While advocating for Palestine’s autonomy and against genocide amid the war in Gaza, the singer has made comments perceived as antisemitic.
J Pride focused on providing a safe space for the Jewish and queer communities – with private security and RSVPs required to obtain the La Jolla location.
