An 8-year-old child was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in Chula Vista, authorities said Monday.
The boy was struck around 2 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Tango Loop, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
Police said bystanders used a hydraulic jack to free the child, who was pinned underneath the vehicle.
First responders performed lifesaving measures on the child until he was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
His name was not immediately released.
The crash remained under investigation.
