Good morning, San Diego.

The party’s fun, for sure. But oh, the cleanup.

Anyone who’s ever hosted a grand to-do (well, at least a decent house party) knows that last bit is not the fun part. It’s the same in San Diego, when beach-goers flock to the sand from Oceanside to IB for July 4th. And like some of your messier guests, they do not leave our beaches like they found them.

Surfrider Foundation of San Diego County to the rescue! Volunteers will spread out at beaches and along the bayfront Saturday to put things to rights and make the beaches pristine again. We have a list showing you where to go if you’d like to help out.

In other news, ready for the reopening of Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach? It’s almost here … dive into the history of a beloved Victorian structure in the Gaslamp. The building has a groundbreaking new owner … And unions for rideshare drivers? It’s a possibility under a bill working its way through the state legislature.
