A $3 million renovation of the Lyceum Theatres in Horton Plaza — the first since their opening in 1986 — is underway and will take about a year.
The remodeling will transform the space to a more modern, open design. The theaters, home to San Diego Repertory Theatre, will remain open during the project, which will proceed in stages.
“We are excited to help create a new physical space worthy of the art it contains,” said Larry Alldredge, managing director of the Rep. “The renovation will transform the theatres into a destination that engages people to create art and community.”
The work by Soltek Pacific Construction includes:
- Remodeled lobby area with raised ceilings, natural and modern lighting, projection for lobby events, and a new architectural centerpiece stairwell
- New concession areas
- Renovated restrooms with wood and glass finishes
- New floors and aisles in the Lyceum Stage seating area
Renovations are funded by Horton Plaza Theatres Foundation and the City of San Diego.
