While the spotlight might shine on the city of San Diego with all of its summer happenings taking place next month (Port of San Diego Big Bay Boom, Pride Parade, Over-the-Line Tournament, Comic-Con, etc.), don’t overlook some of the fun taking place right here in La Mesa.
Among the fun events to put on your calendar are the La Mesa Classic Car Show & Music Event and Sundays at Six Concerts.
This 31st annual free cars-and-music event is a long-standing tradition along La Mesa Boulevard, situated between 4th St. and Spring St.
The event runs every Thursday evening (5-8 p.m.) through Aug. 28. Attendees can view an array of classic cars, trucks, and vans. In doing so, you can take a step back in time while enjoying live music from local bands playing at 3rd St. and La Mesa Blvd.

If you have some free time, head on out to the Sundays at Six Concerts at Harry Griffen Park (9550 Milden St.).
The shows run from 6-7 p.m.
Concerts run June 22 – July 27, with the San Diego Concert Band kicking things off Sunday evening.
