San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who was voted as  a fourth alternate to the Pro Bowl this season, declined the opportunity Monday citing “personal reasons.”

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor will replace Rivers on the roster for the all-star game this Sunday in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Rivers also missed the game last year while he was nursing a back injury, but this year with a possible Los Angeles move and his eighth kid being born last October, Rivers passed on the vacation to Hawaii.

He has played in five Pro Bowls in his career, the last time being in 2013.

The lone Chargers representative for the Pro Bowl remains cornerback Jason Verrett, who was voted as a first alternate and replaced Darrelle Revis when he bowed out of the game.

Hall-of-Fame wide receivers Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin will be the captains for the Pro Bowl draft, which takes place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

The actual Pro Bowl will be played Sunday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN.
