The San Diego Community College District will welcome students to a new spring semester on Monday with more classes, 64 new full-time instructors and upgraded facilities.
Improvements at the district’s three colleges — City, Mesa and Miramar — and its continuing education program range from renovated and expanded buildings to new faculty and classes.
The district expects to enroll 75,000 students for the semester, up 3.5 percent from a year ago. Almost half of the new faculty members are in scientific and technical areas such as chemistry, mathematics, physics, and web development
“Our top priority is providing the classes that students need to complete their programs in a timely manner in order to earn an associate degree, transfer to a university, or enter the job market,” said Chancellor Constance M. Carroll. “While expanding the number of classes, we are also paying attention to the quality of our classes and programs.”
To sign up for classes, prospective students must first submit a completed application via the Student Web Services link on the district web site. Once an application has been submitted, students can then register for their classes online.
At $46 per unit, California community colleges offer an affordable way to earn a college degree. Financial aid and scholarships are available to qualified students.
