In response to a rising number of measles cases across the U.S., Family Health Centers of San Diego will host two free vaccination clinics on Saturday, May 31. The events aim to provide the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccine, as well as other standard child and adolescent immunizations.

The walk-in clinics are open to anyone under the age of 19 who does not have private health insurance. No appointments are necessary. In addition to receiving free vaccines, participating children will get a $50 gift card. There will also be toys, prize giveaways, and a raffle for bikes and helmets.

The vaccination clinics will take place at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:

  • Logan Heights Family Health Center – 1809 National Ave., San Diego
  • El Cajon Family Health Center – 525 E Main St., El Cajon

Health officials say the events are in direct response to a recent spike in measles infections nationwide, with over 1,000 confirmed cases so far this year. Measles is a highly contagious virus, and vaccination remains the most effective form of prevention.

The clinics are supported by Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan and Community Health Group.

FHCSD representatives, including members of its medical leadership and community outreach team, are available for interviews before and during the event to discuss the importance of childhood immunization and public health awareness.
