The office of the San Diego Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk is reminding San Diegans that Wednesday is the deadline for filing unsecured business personal property statements.
Unsecured business property is defined as property not considered real estate, including watercraft (such as sailboats, motorboats, jet skis), aircraft (e.g. planes, helicopters), business furniture (desks, chairs, tables), business fixtures (shelving, display cases, built-in cabinets) and business machinery (computers, office equipment), according to the AARC’s office.
“As an advocate for San Diegans, my office and I try to reach every taxpayer before the May 7 filing deadline to help them avoid the state of California-mandated 10% late filing penalty,” said Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Jordan Marks in a statement.
“As San Diego County Assessor, my goal is that no taxpayer overpays on their taxes or receives a late filing penalty, so please know my office is here to help you submit your business, aircraft, and vessel statements before the May 7 filing deadline.”
Filings must be postmarked on or before May 7, or, if filing online, submitted by midnight Pacific time on May 7. Unsecured tax bills become delinquent if not paid by August 31 and will be charged a 10% penalty by the Tax Collector’s Office.
About 48,000 business accounts have been deemed eligible to file electronically using a pin number. For more information about filing online, call (858) 505-6100, or email ARCCBusinessEfile.FGG@sdcounty.ca.gov.
