Police have arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI after an alleged hit-and-run that injured a woman in National City.

The male driver of an Audi, in the car with four other males, was allegedly speeding while running a red light at 18th Street and Euclid Avenue around 2:40 a.m. Friday, according to OnScene.TV.

The Audi allegedly clipped the rear end of a Honda driven by another male with a female passenger. That car ended up hitting a street light.

National City police responded and located the driver, who allegedly fled on foot, several blocks away.

The woman, who was able to walk under her own power to a stretcher, was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Neither the Audi driver nor his passengers suffered injuries.

The driver is facing DUI and hit-and-run charges.
