La Jolla? Encinitas? Carlsbad? If you’re thinking about bidding in San Diego County’s 2025 online property tax re-offer auction, make sure you register by May 2—that’s the deadline, according to County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister. There are 362 properties up for auction this year.

“We encourage hopeful bidders to go online and register for the available properties we have in San Diego. It’s our goal to sell every parcel; selling these properties enables us to generate revenue for the county and helps us provide needed services in our community,” McAllister said.

The auction runs May 9 through May 14, and it’s open to anyone. But to take part, you must register in advance at sdttc.mytaxsale.com, submit a refundable $1,000 deposit, and pay a nonrefundable $35 processing fee. Certain properties may require a higher deposit, so check the details on the site.

Here’s what’s on the auction block this year:

  • 4 residential or commercial properties
  • 346 timeshares
  • 12 parcels of land

“Timeshares start with a minimum bid of $100. All minimum bids total $803,000,” McAllister said. “People who are interested in the auction should sign up for our e-notifications at sdttc.com to receive email reminders before important deadlines.”

One thing to keep in mind: property owners can still keep their property if they pay off what they owe by 5 p.m. on May 8. The county makes every effort to notify owners before their property is sold.

And remember—all sales are final. This is a buyer-beware sale, so do your research ahead of time at the TTC website. If you win a bid but don’t follow through, you’ll lose your deposit.

McAllister wrapped it up by saying, “This is an opportunity for anyone around the world to participate and purchase property in San Diego County.”
