Five Barons Markets in Southern California raised nearly $32,000 for 156 charities, it was announced Tuesday.
The grocery store chain said it donated money to nonprofit organizations like the San Diego Food Bank, Cancer Angels and the Temecula-Murrieta Community Pantry.
“At Barons you’ll find good food and good prices, but most importantly you’ll find good people,” Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “They are the drivers behind raising money for local organizations, bagging groceries for veterans, pouring at our beer pairings and so much more.”
Charitable events hosted by the company included school fairs, pet adoptions and Backroom Beer Pairings.
Barons said it will continue pushing small business boundaries with healthy-eating field trips, collaborations with more local organizations and a new store in the Inland Empire. Barons will open its sixth location in Murrieta in January 2016.
