Pop culture fans in San Diego are getting another new outlet for their passion.

BoxLunch, a leading retailer of pop culture collectibles and merchandise, is opening its
newest store this weekend.

The company will host the grand opening of their store at Las Americas Premium Outlets,
4211 Camino De La Plaza in San Ysidro at noon Saturday and Sunday.

It’s not the first BoxLunch location in the region. There also are stores at Plaza Bonita, Parkway Plaza in El Cajon and North County Mall in Escondido.

The opening adds to the reputation of San Diego, home to the massive annual Comic-Con International gathering, as a pop culture stronghold.

“BoxLunch is connected to San Diego and its passionate community of pop culture
enthusiasts,” said Rick Vargas, BoxLunch’s senior vice president of merchandising and marketing. “Events like Comic-Con have provided ideal opportunities for our brand to engage and actively participate in the community and we see store growth in the area as a way to
strengthen this connection.”

The specialty retailer will have a weekend full of festivities, including games, prizes,
photo opportunities and a live DJ. The first 50 attendees will receive complimentary BoxLunch gift cards valued from $10 to $100.

Fans are encouraged to get in line when the store opens at 10 a.m for the chance to win.

The company said each new store showcases the brand’s dedication to giving back
through charitable partnerships, while creating spaces where fans can come together
and connect.

The company sells toys and collectibles, clothing, backpacks and home accessories among its many items. Its brands include Disney and Pixar, Star Wars, Harry Potter and various anime properties.

BoxLunch has an ongoing presence at Comic-Con, which will take place from July 23-27 this year.

“We have featured our BoxLunch Treat Truck the last couple of years, offering fans complimentary treats and exclusive merchandise during the convention,” Vargas said. “We have also participated in influencer events around the Comic-Con event. We plan to continue our partnership with Comic-Con and further impact the community of San
Diego through our collaboration with Feeding America.”
