Nick Boyd scored 19 points Tuesday, helping San Diego State to win its third game in a row, this time against hapless Fresno State, 83-60 at Viejas Arena.

Boyd added seven assists for the Aztecs (18-6, 11-4 Mountain West). Wayne McKinney III had 15 points, including going 3 for 6 from beyond the arc.

And Magoon Gwath, the current conference Freshman of the Week, again stood out. He went 6 of 8 from the field to finish with 14 points, along with six rebounds and three blocks.

The Bulldogs (5-22, 1-15 MW) were led in scoring by Jalen Weaver, who finished with 16 points. The loss is the ninth straight for the Bulldogs.

San Diego State took the lead after less than a minute had ticked off the clock and did not relinquish it. Boyd, appropriately enough, opened the scoring with a three-pointer.

Five minutes later, the guard hit a layup for the 1,000th point of his collegiate career.

The score was 43-23 at halftime, thanks to a 15-4 run, with Boyd having racked up 13 points. The Aztecs pulled away with an 11-2 run in the second half, extending a 22-point lead to 31 points.

Defensively, SDSU forced 16 turnovers – 11 in the first half – and scored 20 points off them.

Though SDSU rolled Tuesday, it won’t be so easy at 5 p.m. Saturday when the Aztecs embark on their final five games of the season, visiting Utah State (22-4, 12-3 MW). The second-place Aggies, who fell to New Mexico on Sunday, play San Jose State Wednesday.
