Four dogs transferred from a Pasadena animal shelter to the San Diego Humane Society campus are available for adoption, the organization announced Thursday.
No animals have been taken from individuals or families. The dogs have been transferred from the Pasadena Humane Society — which has been affected by the devastating Los Angeles County wildfires — in order to ease stressful situations and share resources.
The San Diego Humane Society, which has been helping animals affected by the Eaton Fire, said that the four dogs that arrived in San Diego Wednesday evening are:
- Suki, a blue-gray, female 3-year-old American pitbull terrier;
- Kona, a male 3-year-old Akita and Shiba Inu mix;
- Bolt, a male 1-year-old shepherd; and
- General, a 2-year-old American pit bull terrier mix.
“All four dogs will get the night to decompress at our San Diego Campus, then go through an assessment by our teams before they can become available for adoption,” said a statement from the San Diego Humane Society.
Over the past few weeks, the San Diego Humane Society has partnered closely with the Pasadena Humane Society and transferred a total of 47 adoptable pets to San Diego County to help create space for animals displaced by the fires, said the agency.
In total, seven dogs are available for adoption at Humane Society facilities in San Diego, Escondido, and Oceanside.
The Humane Society’s adoption fees are $25 for all adult dogs and cats via the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters program.
