The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped two-tenths of a cent Saturday to $4.503, its fifth consecutive decrease.

The average price is six-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 2.4 cents more than one month ago, and 19.2 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.932 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that gasoline inventories in local refineries are higher, but refineries are preparing to enter their annual maintenance season when production capacity will be lower,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“OPIS also reported that Southern California refineries stated that the wildfires have so far posed no imminent threat to operations.”

The national average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.064. It is the same as one week ago and 4.4 cents more than one month ago, but 1.3 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.952 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
