The Chicano Federation hosted a holiday celebration over the weekend dedicated to helping more children and their families at a Paradise Hills church.

San Diego Gas & Electric, UCSD Health, and more than a hundred volunteers worked with the county to ensure that families received toys, blankets, books, diapers, food, and more.

The event was held at Centro Familiar Cristiano in Paradise Hills.

“This year, the Federation also partnered with El Zapatón to gift each child with a new pair of shoes,” the foundation said in a statement.

El Zapatón is an annual shoe giveaway.

Children who participated had the opportunity to take a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus, make holiday crafts, and meet Gulliver, the children’s mascot from the San Diego Gulls.

“The holiday season can be hard for many families. Chicano Federation hosts this event annually to support families in the community and to spread joy and hope,” the foundation said.
