MTS is providing extra services in anticipation of a popular game between the Chargers and the Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium this Sunday.
One of the Charger’s greatest players, LeDainian Tomlinson, is having his number 21 retired and officially inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame at the game.
Fans are advised to purchase Trolley passes through the MTS mTicket app. This will allow game attendees to board the trolley faster through an exclusive express lane on the west side of the boarding ramp.
MTS announced plans to boost the number of before-and-after trains on the Green Line, to offer direct transportation to Qualcomm Stadium from downtown and Santee. The kickoff is set at 1:05 p.m. with additional services beginning at 9:30 a.m. from Old Town to the stadium, as well as from Santee to the stadium at 9:04 a.m. When the game finishes, the extra services will apply to both directions of the Green Line.
Fans should be aware that trains often reach maximum capacity around 11:30 a.m., according to MTS. After this peak in traffic, there will likely be delays.
The best places to park to take the Trolley are:
- Hazard Center Station: 1,500 free parking spots (lower level only; 6 minutes to stadium)
- Grantville Trolley Station: 404 free parking spots (4 minutes to stadium)
- El Cajon Transit Center: 469 free parking spots (23 minutes to stadium)
- Old Town Transit Center: 412 free parking spots (overflow parking at the Caltrans facility on Taylor St.; 14 minutes to stadium)
