
A woman was arrested early Tuesday after the Ford Escape she was driving plowed into a group of Caltrans workers on an onramp in Chollas View.
A little after 3 a.m., contractors with the California Department of Transportation were working on the Market St. onramp to the northbound 805 when the driver ran a red light and crashed through their barricades, hitting three workers who were laying concrete and then driving into a work trailer.
The crash was witnessed by officers from the San Diego Police Department, who arrested her at the scene before turning her over to the California Highway Patrol.
Video taken at the scene shows people on the ground, with at least one man getting his leg splinted by paramedics. According to a CHP statement, the three Caltrans contractors were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 29-year-old woman from Chula Vista, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
