Defenseman Brandon Montour had two goals and two assists and goaltender John Gibson stopped 30 of 31 shots as the San Diego Gulls defeated the Bakersfield Condors 6-1 Wednesday night at Valley View Casino Center.

The Gulls took a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Joseph Cramarossa, Montour and Harry Zolnierczyk.

Montour’s second-period power-play goal increased the Gulls lead to 4-0 before a crowd announced at 6,642.

Antoine Lageniere scored a power-play goal for the Gulls seven minutes, 46 seconds into the third period. The Gulls scored on all three power-play opportunities and killed all six of the power-play chances for the Condors (4-6- 0-1).

Defenseman David Musil spoiled Gibson’s bid for his second shutout of the season by scoring his second goal of the season with 3:09 to play.

Matt Bailey scored his first goal of the season for the Gulls (9-2-0-0) with 2:19 left.

Ben Scrivens, who has played 129 NHL games, including 19 with the Los Angeles Kings during the 2013-14 season, made 17 saves for Bakersfield, the Edmonton Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliate. Scrivens is 0-3 with a 5.05 goals against average.

Gibson is 7-1 with a 2.14 GAA.

There were two fights, both in the first period. Gulls defenseman Stu Bickel fought with Condors left wing Mitch Moroz 1:38 into the game. Gulls defenseman Shane O’Brien and Bakersfield center Jujhar Khaira brawled at 13:10 of the period.

All four players received five-minute major penalties.

Bickel leads the Gulls with 38 penalty minutes while O’Brien is second with 27. Moroz leads the Condors with 29 penalty minutes.

The Gulls, the Anaheim Ducks AHL affiliate, are 6-0 at the Valley View Casino Center.

The Gulls wore camouflage-inspired jerseys in the first of a series of three Military Appreciation Week games at Valley View Casino Center. They will also wear the camouflage-inspired jerseys in Saturday’s game against the San Jose Barracuda, the San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate.

The Gulls will wear their road black jerseys in Friday’s game against the Barracuda.
