Authorities sought Monday a 39-year-old San Diego man in connection with the shooting deaths of a man and a woman in the Mountain View neighborhood over the weekend.
San Diego Police identified the suspect as Felipe Vega and said he is considered armed and dangerous.
Vega is suspected of fatally shooting two acquaintances, who were both in their 20s, following an argument on Newton Avenue near 43rd Street shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison said. It was not immediately clear what the argument was about.
Vega fled before officers arrived.
Rorrison said officers arrived to find the mortally wounded victims lying in a driveway behind a residence in the 1100 block of South 43rd Street. Both died at the scene from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies despite efforts to revive them.
The victims’ names were withheld pending family notification, but news reports have identified them as brother and sister.
