A ski resort in the San Gabriel Mountains above the Los Angeles metro area is opening more than a week early on Friday after recent cold temperatures and snowfall.
“We are excited about the season and expect it to be epic with tons of El Niño snow,” said Mountain High Chief Marketing Officer John McColly. “We wanted to open as soon as we could to get folks out on the trails .”
So far only one lift and trail are open. The resort is expected to be fully open by Nov. 14. Mountain High typically opens from mid November to mid April.
Parts of Los Angeles County, including the Antelope Valley, were under a freeze warning on Friday.
