Halloween events large and small are scheduled to take place around San Diego County on Saturday. The biggest will be in the Gaslamp Quarter, where the 15th annual Monster Bash block party will feature five stages of entertainment and a costume contest. Food and drink outlets throughout the area will also be open for customers.

Organizers said more than 15,000 costumed revelers are expected to attend the event, which runs from 6 p.m. until midnight along Seventh Avenue between Market and J streets, and Island Avenue between Sixth and Eighth avenues.

General admission tickets will cost $60, and VIP tickets will set attendees back $100. The county of San Diego offers free family-friendly Halloween events beginning at 5 p.m. at the Fallbrook and Lakeside community centers, and 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Valley Community Center. The festivities will include treats, music, food, games and prizes.

The Fallbrook Community Center is located at 341 Heald Ave.; the Lakeside Community Center at 9841 Vine St.; and the Spring Valley Community Center at 8735 Jamacha Blvd. Earlier, a three-day Dia de los Muertos celebration will begin in Old Town with a street fair along San Diego Avenue and display of 50 public altars in Old Town State Historic Park. The event culminates Monday evening with a candlelight procession to the nearby El Campo Santo cemetery.

Former “Baywatch” actress Melissa Biggs plans to hold her annual Kids and Kritters Costume Contest at her Front Porch gourmet food stores in Mission Hills and Coronado. The event will include a parade of costumed pets.

The contests run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Front Porch locations at 928 Fort Stockton Drive in San Diego and 918 Orange Ave. in Coronado. The Metropolitan Transit System said it will run special late-night trolleys from downtown because of the Monster Bash. Green Line trolleys, which run to San Diego State University and end up in Santee, will depart the Gaslamp Quarter station at 12:08 a.m. and 12:38 a.m.

A Blue Line trolley bound for Chula Vista and San Ysidro will leave the Fifth Avenue station at 12:25 a.m. The MTS said an Orange Line trolley will leave the Fifth Avenue station at 12:27 a.m., and head to La Mesa and El Cajon.
